Peasant Girl, by Henry Bacon,1883
Happy start of the astrological new year as we move into the first sign of the zodiac, Aries.
some things I have been thinking about.
As Venus and Mercury are both retrograde in Aries. We simply cannot ignore the symbology and the potential for ignition. which got me to thinking about kindling and what acts as kindling in my life.
In the southern hemisphere the associated pagan holiday is Mabon, where we lean into the changing of the seasons and embrace the cooling down, the darker nights. Where we begin to turn inward for our light and warmth.
The smell of wet autumn leaves, and things breaking down and being turned into compost and nutrients once again, I’m planning on using this energy literally in my house and garden. To clear out the bits that are in the corners of cupboards and to give them a place to go and be useful. Clearing the dank water in the drains and sending some gratitude down them for not getting clogged with hair and overflowing. but functioning well as a way to release grit and grime.
A good time to heat up your oven and bake something warm and golden, the oven being a modern day hearth and energetic point of the home.
I like to add intentions into the mundane to let my mind wander while cleaning about what the effects of cleaning a mirror will be, that I will see clearer, that light will be able to reflect more into the harder to get to spaces.
playing music or even playing with bowls full of water that resonate in a nice way, making sounds that has a resonate and bell like quality in your space to clear energy.
regardless of the efficacy of these things on a spiritual level I think, sometimes things get dank and walking around the house clapping loudly to disperse energy like why the hell not you know.
In the northern hemisphere, enjoy the light filled days coming to you, pick or buy some new flowers, or plant some, open your windows and let the breeze in.
I think, the year has had this energy of like stagnation and being really immersed in ambient emotions , in a way that has been difficult to find momentum. The way I see the Astrological New year Equinox point is similar to this mechanic in some games, that when you quit or die you can start your next game with some element that makes it easier like a perk. I feel like this time has that energy, like burn it down start again but you’re not starting from nothing. You get to have a fresh start and the benefit of some more intel about your situation.
Finally I personally am planning on going through all my paper (boxes of teenage poetry my parents gave back to me saying they wont store it anymore, so fair) and getting rid of it,
I think burning if possible to do safely would be a good way to get rid of but also composting or making fresh paper from the scraps. A possible intentional ritual to do inline with the big Aries retrograde theme.
Okay so some further recommendations:
poppyseed in culinary things
magic bridge lore, trolls under bridges stories someone tell me why this is coming up so much lately
cooking with fire, cleaning your oven, microwave
oh, having something to offset the heat energy when it feels too much? fresh air , getting into water sommelier-ing, herbal footbath tea bags.
sweet milky chamomile tea made for yourself and friends before sleep
um also, debt.. like, returning things you’ve borrowed, getting back things you lent, calling up the debt company and organising a plan. seems like could be a good time. on the other hand being prudent with $$ in like…. I could see the energy encouraging people to burn through cash or throw money at situations that pop up to fix them
but like lol do not take money advice from me just something I noticed /hypothesising about i am not a financial advisor I am just a woman who listens to alot of podcasts and audiobooks and random youtube videos.
okayyyyyy thankyouuuuuuuu <333333
